Quezon City, Philippines — KOLABorador Co., a collective of independent Filipino theater artists, brings back its critically resonant production Lamay in Malaya with “The Re-Run,” an immersive, promenade-style theater experience that invites audiences to confront grief as an enduring expression of love, memory, and shared humanity.
Set to run from February 6–8, 13–15, and 20–22, 2026 at 7:00 PM, the production will be staged at Coconut House, 34 Malaya Street, Diliman, Quezon City. Tickets are priced at PHP 1,000 (inclusive of traditional lamay refreshments), with discounted rates available for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
Rooted deeply in Filipino cultural sensibilities, Lamay in Malaya approaches mourning not as something to be resolved, but as a state of suspension—where love continues to exist even in loss. Guided through multiple intimate spaces, audiences encounter a series of interwoven narratives: a widow finding solace in cooking and grief poetry, a woman searching for a missing body, characters wrestling with abandoned dreams, and others seeking release from the rituals surrounding death. Each story reflects how grief ebbs and flows, resisting neat closure.
Created through KOLABorador Co.’s signature devised theater process, the production draws from the lived experiences of its cast, historical narratives, poetry on grief, and conversations with memorial coordinators. These elements are shaped through collective storytelling, movement, sound, and visual composition, transforming deeply personal and communal experiences into a shared theatrical journey.
“Grief is not experienced from a distance—it is felt in the body and in shared spaces,” KOLABorador Co. shares. “This work was born from loss within our own community, but also from the quieter griefs we carry: the lives we imagined, the selves we outgrew. Lamay in Malaya is our way of honoring all of that.”
The ensemble cast features Tara Cabaero, Kathlyn Castillo, Raphne Catorce, Chic De Guzman, Anna Deroca, Tess Jamias, Wenah Nagales, Jona Paculan, Gino Ramirez, Nazer Salcedo, and Joshua Tayco, supported by an artistic team led by Mark Daniel Dalacat (Repetitur, Scenography & Styling), Third Salamat (Lighting Design), Zsaris (Sound Design), and Vic Villareal (Dramaturgy).
Tickets are available via TicketMelon and through KOLABorador Co.’s official Facebook and Instagram pages.
Please note: No children below 7 years old are allowed, and minors under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
With Lamay in Malaya: The Re-Run, KOLABorador Co. once again invites audiences to sit with grief—not to fix it, but to honor it as proof that love once lived, and still does.
