🎮 From Digital to Physical: How Nenverse Brought Community IP to Life at Philippine GameDev Expo

At this year’s Philippine GameDev Expo (PGDX), the usual mix of indie games, developers, and publishers was joined by something less traditional but increasingly important: Web2 & 3-native creative communities stepping into the real world.

PGDX

One of the most interesting examples came from Nenverse, a studio building original anime-inspired intellectual properties powered by digital ownership and community participation.

At their booth for “Awakening Hunters,” I met Daryl Kervin Sanchez, who shared how their presence at PGDX reflects a broader shift happening in gaming and creative industries.

🌐 Bridging Digital Worlds Into Real Communities: Building “Communities” Not Just Products

For Nenverse, PGDX wasn’t just about showcasing a project. It was about bringing their online community into a shared physical space.

The goal: move from purely digital interaction to real-world connection.

Their booth definitely embodies the vision they had, it was open, cozy, interactive with unlimited coffee and various drinks. (Yey to Matcha!)

Web3 communities typically live in the Digital space. Discord servers & Social platforms

But Nenverse is pushing beyond that by:

  • Meeting users face-to-face
  • Creating shared experiences at events
  • Turning digital identity into real-world belonging

This reflects a growing belief in Web3:
👉 Communities shouldn’t stay online, they should exist wherever their members are.

🎨 New Opportunities for Artists and Creatives

Another major focus: empowering artists.

Nenverse is actively looking to:

  • onboard artists
  • collaborate on IP development
  • create earning opportunities tied to digital assets

For creatives, this means:

  • contributing to original worlds
  • gaining exposure through both Web3 platforms and real-world events like PGDX

This hybrid approach, Web2 + Web3 + physical events, is becoming a new pathway for creative careers.

🔄 Why PGDX Matters for Web3 Studios

Events like Philippine GameDev Expo provide something Web3 alone cannot:

  • Human connection
  • Immediate feedback
  • Community trust-building

For Nenverse and similar studios, being at PGDX is about:

  • Providing space for people in their community to connect and to branch out and make more connections
  • connecting with traditional developers and people in this creative space

🚀 The Bigger Picture

What Nenverse is attempting goes beyond a single project.

It’s part of a larger movement to:

  • bridge Web2 and Web3 ecosystems
  • turn digital communities into real-world networks
  • redefine how intellectual property is created and owned

And perhaps most importantly:

👉 Give creators and communities a more active role in shaping the worlds they love.
